Veterinary Care at Its Finest
Your pets are part of your family, and you want to give them the best possible health care throughout their lives. As pet owners ourselves, we know how important this is for you, and we are committed to not just meeting your expectations. Our veterinary team wants to exceed them. Although there are dozens of veterinary practices in our area to choose from, but not all of them are created equal. Animal Hospital of Colorado Springs has taken some additional steps up the veterinary ladder to become an AAHA-accredited hospital and a Certified Cat Friendly Practice (CFP). We are also staffed with doctors who are certified by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP). These designations as a practice benefit not only your pets, but you as well.
What Does It Mean to be AAHA-Accredited?
AAHA stands for the American Animal Hospital Association, which is the non-profit organization dedicated to helping veterinarian professionals and practices become more effective and successful. The Association accomplishes this with a list of over 900 stringent standards, ranging from client records, facility cleanliness, technology, and techniques. Veterinary practices can choose to be evaluated on these standards every three years. If they meet them, they are awarded the honor of accreditation, which demonstrates the practice’s dedication to the highest standards in veterinary medicine and client services. Animal Hospital of Colorado Springs accepted the challenge, and we are proud to say that we have been designated as an AAHA-accredited practice since 2011.
What Is a Cat Friendly Practice?
We said it before, and we’ll say it again. Not all veterinary practices are created equal. There are some practices with a significantly larger number of canine patients than feline, so their accommodations tend to be tailored to dogs than cats. But at our practice, we believe both canine AND feline patients should receive an equal level of species-specific care. That’s why we chose to become certified as a Cat Friendly Practice (CFP) by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP).
Being a CFP means that our staff is specially trained to understand the unique needs of cats, including how to approach them with gentleness. It also means that our facility has equipment that is designed to investigate and treat feline diseases. If you’re a cat owner, you know about the issues that are common among felines. Fear of traveling or of the carrier, high susceptibility to stress, nervousness around other animals—the list goes on and on. The team at Animal Hospital of Colorado Springs addresses these issues with diligence and professionalism, making your feline friend’s visits to our hospital as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
